Order Container Seals (Security Seals) and High Security Seals

Among the most common accessories for professional load securing for export are container seals. These seals are also called bolt seals, snappers, container seals, or HSS seals / High Security Seals. Our Sandax container seals are produced exclusively in light colors. The light coloring allows for easy photo documentation. The Sandax container seals and high security seals are of course certified according to ISO 17712:2013. These HSS seals are characterized by the fact that they are very difficult to manipulate.

Material of Container Seals & C-TPAT Compliance

Our seals consist of ABS plastic and are consecutively numbered using laser printing. The sequential number is printed on both parts of the seal. Our container seals meet the highest requirements and thus also the certification for security in transport and logistics according to C-TPAT. Consequently, our Sandax seals are also approved as customs seals in the USA, Canada, and Mexico for export packaging.

Best Practices for using Container Seals

The correct application and handling of seals is crucial for the security and efficiency of transport. Here are some best practices:

Selecting the Right Seal

The choice of the suitable security seal depends on the type of goods to be protected and the specific security requirements. Container seals, steel cable seals, and wire seals each offer different advantages and should be selected according to transport conditions and the value of the transported goods.

Installation and Handling

Correct installation of the seals is crucial to ensure their effectiveness. Make sure that the seals are firmly locked and properly attached. For container seals, it is important that they are attached to the designated places and that the seal number of the container is documented. Regular training for staff can help ensure correct application.

Functions and Applications of Container Seals

Seals play a crucial role in international freight transport. They not only provide protection against tampering and theft but also ensure compliance with security standards and legal regulations. In this text, you will learn everything you need to know about the different types of security seals, their materials and applications, as well as best practices for their use. Whether you want to buy container seals or inform yourself about the advantages of plastic security seals – here you will find comprehensive information to help you make the right decisions for the secure transport of your goods.
Seals fulfill various functions and are indispensable in numerous fields of application. Here are some of the main applications and their benefits:

Protection Against Tampering

One of the most important functions of security seals is protection against tampering. These closures are designed so that they cannot be opened or manipulated without visible traces. This provides an additional layer of security and prevents unauthorized access to the transported goods. Especially in logistics and international trade, tamper-evident seals are indispensable to ensure the integrity of the cargo.

Identification and Tracking

Seals carry unique serial numbers or barcodes that can be used for identification and tracking of shipments. These markings make it possible to precisely track the path of the goods from the point of origin to the destination. This is particularly important for high-value or sensitive goods, where it is crucial to be able to trace the location and condition of the cargo at any time.

Application in Various Means of Transport

Security seals find application in a variety of transport means. Whether for containers, trucks, railways, or air freight, these closures ensure security and protection during the entire transport process. For containers, robust container seals have been specifically developed to withstand the high demands of maritime transport. But seals are also indispensable in other transport sectors to ensure the security and integrity of goods.

The correct use of seals is crucial to maximize transport security and efficiency. Companies should ensure they choose the appropriate security seals for their specific needs and guarantee compliance with security standards.

Types of Seals

Seals are available in various designs to meet specific requirements and security needs in the transport industry. Here are the main types:

  • Container seals: Container seals are specifically designed to securely lock containers and prevent tampering attempts. They are robust and resilient to withstand the high demands of international transport. These seals are provided with unique serial numbers to facilitate traceability and identification. Ordering container seals is an important step to ensure cargo integrity.
  • Steel cable seals: Steel cable seals offer high security and are ideal for use in applications that require a flexible yet very secure locking solution. These seals consist of a strong steel cable that is guided through a housing and cannot be opened without visible traces once locked. They are particularly useful for locking containers, truck doors, and warehouses.
  • Wire seals: Wire seals are a cost-effective and effective way to ensure that packaging or a container has not been opened without detection. These seals consist of a wire that is guided through a locking unit and fits tightly after locking. Wire seals are particularly useful for meters, bags, and smaller containers.
By choosing the right type of seal, companies can significantly increase the security of their shipments and comply with legal requirements. The decision on which seal is best suited for a specific application depends on various factors, including the type of goods transported and the specific security requirements.

Materials and Security Standards

The choice of the right materials and compliance with security standards are crucial for the effectiveness of seals. High-quality materials such as ABS plastic and metal offer robust solutions for various requirements.

ABS Plastic and its Advantages

Security seals made of ABS plastic are lightweight, robust, and resistant to tampering. They are particularly suitable for applications where flexibility and strength are equally required. These seals offer effective protection against mechanical stress and extreme weather conditions, making them ideal for use in various means of transport.

ISO 17712:2013 Certification

The ISO 17712:2013 certification ensures that container seals and security seals meet the highest security standards. Seals bearing this certification have undergone rigorous testing to ensure their strength and tamper resistance. This certification is particularly important for companies operating internationally, as it ensures compliance with global security standards.

C-TPAT Compliance

C-TPAT (Customs-Trade Partnership Against Terrorism) compliance is another important security standard. Seals that meet these requirements contribute to securing international supply chains. They provide additional protection against unauthorized access and are an essential element of transport security. Companies using C-TPAT compliant seals can improve their security practices and strengthen the trust of their customers.
By using certified and high-quality materials, companies can increase the security of their transports and ensure that their goods arrive at their destination undamaged and without manipulation. This contributes not only to compliance with international regulations but also to reducing transport risks and improving supply chain efficiency.

Regular Inspection and Maintenance

Regular inspection of seals during transport is necessary to detect tampering attempts at an early stage. This also includes checking the integrity of the security seals and comparing the seal numbers with the transport documents. If tampering is suspected, action should be taken immediately and the affected seals should be replaced.
By following these best practices, companies can increase the security of their transport goods and minimize the risk of tampering and theft. Careful selection, correct installation, and regular inspection of security seals contribute significantly to ensuring an undamaged and secure delivery.

Advantages of High-Quality Seals

The use of high-quality seals brings numerous benefits that contribute to the security and efficiency of transport:

Increasing Security

High-quality security seals offer robust protection against tampering and theft. They ensure that the contents of the container remain intact throughout the transport. This is particularly important for valuable or sensitive goods, where the integrity of the cargo is a top priority.

Minimizing Theft Risks

Through the use of tamper-evident seals, the risk of theft is significantly reduced. Security seals make it harder for potential thieves to access the contents of a container unnoticed. They serve as a visible deterrent and complicate unauthorized access.

Compliance with International Regulations

High-quality seals often meet international security standards and regulations, such as ISO 17712:2013 and C-TPAT. These certifications ensure that the seals meet the highest security requirements and are recognized in international trade. Compliance with these standards is essential for many companies to avoid legal and logistical hurdles.
By using high-quality seals, companies can increase the security of their transports, minimize theft risks, and ensure compliance with international regulations. This leads to smoother logistics and improves customer satisfaction.
